Bifacial modules are designed with solar cells on both the front and back sides of the panel, allowing them to capture sunlight that is reflected from the ground or other nearby surfaces in addition to direct sunlight. They typically have a transparent backsheet or glass on the rear side to allow light to pass through to the rear-facing cells. Bifacial modules can achieve higher energy conversion efficiencies compared to monofacial modules, particularly in certain conditions such as low angles of incidence or when installed over reflective surfaces. The additional energy captured from the rear side of the module can significantly boost overall energy production.
